Jamie Lee Curtis Broke The Internet… Again

Every so often, a woman in midlife steps out into the spotlight and reminds the world we’re not here to fade. Last week, that woman was Jamie Lee Curtis, who once again managed to ‘break the Internet’ this time with a TikTok and a cleavage-baring blazer.

Yes, you read that right. A woman in her mid-sixties trending worldwide. Why? Because she dared to look sexy, confident, and unapologetically herself.

I’ve wrote about middle aged women and sexiness before ⤵

It started when Disney shared a playful video of Curtis promoting Freakier Friday, sequel to 2003’s Freaky Friday movie.

Then came the photo of Jamie, dripping in style with a shimmering silver blazer, flashing a peace sign backstage at El Capitan Theatre. That single shot outperformed even the movie’s announcement posts.

And what did she do with all that attention? She leaned in with humour. She laughed about it. She owned it. She celebrated it.

“I LOVE the fact that the LAST photograph of me as TESS … has gotten more attention than any other since … the announcement post with Lindsay Lohan … HAPPY TO HELP SPREAD THE JOY THAT OUR MOVIE SERVES!”

Jamie Lee Curtis has never been shy about her midlife journey. She’s spoken openly in the past about plastic surgery regrets, sobriety and resisting Hollywood’s filters and ageist norms.

This wasn’t just a press stunt for her. It’s almost like a rebellious declaration saying,

My admiration for Jamie’s unapologetic spirit runs deeper than her internet-breaking looks. It goes right back to the Golden Globes when Michelle Yeoh won big for Everything Everywhere All At Once and Jamie celebrated like someone had just hit parade confetti cannons.

We need more of that spirit in midlife.

I try to follow her example – To Be More Jamie.

That’s why I designed the “Be More Jamie” T-shirt right back at the time of that Golden Globes moment.

I thought I had a photo of me wearing mine but can I heck find it!

Midlife isn’t a time to quietly fade into the wall paper. It’s a time to cheer louder for each other and celebrate our wins with all the sparkle and sass we’ve earned over the decades.

So the next time you hesitate to post or to dress sexy or to raise a glass in celebration of another female, remember Jamie in that moment.

She doesn’t just break the internet, she reminds us that solidarity, joy and self-assurance are ageless.

We don’t expire after a societal imposed date. We evolve ✌🏻

PS. I still get goosebumps about my Tedx Talk – almost my one year anniversary of when I stepped on that famous red dot. I talked about all of this stuff on that stage. I wonder how long it will be relevant? It would be a thrill if the topics I covered around ageism became ‘old’ news. Sadly, I don’t see that happening any time soon.

Watch me in action here ≥≥≥≥

Have a great weekend,
