Review: Disney World’s Wonderful, Modestly-Priced Michelin Restaurant

How many Michelin restaurants are there at Walt Disney World? Technically, Victoria & Albert’s at the flagship Grand Floridian is the lone location with a coveted star. V&A’s reputation precedes it, and the dining hot spot has earned countless accolades over the last several decades.

It’s truly a transcendent dining experience, serving up an inventive multi-course meal that might make you feel like you’ve died and gone to heaven. Until the bill at the end brings you kicking and screaming back to reality. For those without a spare thousand dollars lying around to drop on a meal, there are other renowned restaurants at Walt Disney World.

If you “only” have a few hundred dollars to drop, there’s Takumi-Tei or Monsieur Paul in World Showcase at EPCOT, both of which are superlative and distinct experiences. Also at Grand Floridian, you’ll find both Narcoossee’s and Citricos, the latter of which gets our nod as the top standard ‘Signature Restaurant at Walt Disney World. But what’s the best bang for buck fancy restaurant that’s also Michelin-recognized? Well, that’s a category of one…

That honor also belongs to Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood, perched atop Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. Against all odds, Toledo flies almost completely under the radar among Walt Disney World fans. This is despite its Michelin recommendation, spectacular rooftop views, and being relatively new.

Toledo checks many of the same boxes as Topolino’s Terrace over at Disney’s Riviera Resort or even California Grill, but is decidedly less popular than either of them. Personally, I prefer Toledo to both for a number of reasons.

Part of the problem is perception. Coronado Springs simply isn’t on most guests’ culinary radar. It’s a convention hotel, a Moderate Resort, and one that lacks the prestige of the flagship Grand Floridian or even the exotic allure of Animal Kingdom Lodge.

When planning a special occasion or date night meal at Walt Disney World, most guests gravitate towards the more tried and true (and frankly) obvious choices in the Deluxe Resorts along the monorail loop or around EPCOT: Contemporary, Yacht Club, BoardWalk, and even Disney Springs are all more common locations for fancy meals.

That’s a mistake, because Toledo is excellent. It’s also shockingly inexpensive for a Michelin-recognized restaurant, with most entrées priced comparably to standard Walt Disney World table service restaurants, as opposed to Signatures. This combination of quality, value, vibe, and views (the 3 Vs!) makes Toledo one of the best-kept secrets in all of Walt Disney World dining.

We’ve been doing our part. Toledo made both our list of the 26 Best Restaurants at Walt Disney World for 2026 and our list of the Underrated Table Service Restaurants at Walt Disney World for 2026. I’d like to think these are approximately as prestigious as the dining guide put out by the tire company.

Those are just two of the many posts in which we rather emphatically endorse Toledo. Whenever we do, there’s an inevitable reader response that we shouldn’t “spoil the secret.” I vehemently disagree with this perspective, speaking from firsthand experience, because we’ve been down this road before with hidden gem Walt Disney World restaurants.

Walt Disney World has a lot of (fake) secret spots and hidden gems that are actually well known and beloved. Toledo is truly underrated, and in the “not busy much of the time” sense. It’s actually a feast-or-famine deal, with Toledo either being slow or packed depending upon the convention status. If there’s a big event at the hotel, it’s often jam-packed. If not, walk-up availability is abundant and tables go unfilled.

To put a finer point on it, Toledo is one of the few restaurants that’s closed 2 days per week. It’s one of the few that routinely offers expanded discounts to Cast Members, Disney Vacation Club Members, or Annual Passholders. By objective metrics (except, again, during conventions), Toledo is unpopular. It’s absolutely unlike Topolino’s Terrace or California Grill.

This is a problem because Walt Disney World often does not “let” restaurants underperform. Their ambitious concepts change, menus are dumbed-down, and the experience is diluted. Toledo hasn’t suffered that fate (yet) and two big reasons why (I assume) are that its draw for the coveted convention clientele, and that Michelin-recognition.

That puts Toledo in this odd ‘goldilocks zone,’ but the point still stands that the best way to ensure Toledo’s longevity is to share the secret, not conceal it.

I’ve covered it elsewhere, but we’ve become big fans of Gran Destino Tower specifically, and Coronado Springs as a whole. The resort has quietly moved up my personal power rankings, especially for solo trips. The same would apply for us traveling as a couple. It’s great for guests without kids. Toledo exemplifies everything that’s great about the hotel as a whole.

Thematically, the restaurant design of Toledo is pitch-perfect. The flooring, columns, chairs, and more have a variety of patterns to provide depth and texture. There’s a lot of this throughout Toledo, but not to the point that it’s visually busy or distracting. The level of detail is just right; it’s classy and upscale, while also being very “Disney.”

Toledo’s thematic highlights include the olive trees in the center of the restaurant, wine case along the wall, and the Gaudi-inspired ceiling overhead. As with the wall at Barcelona Lounge in the lobby, this is absolutely entrancing, with a beautiful design that mesmerizes as the colors change.

Floor to ceiling windows with views of Disney’s Hollywood Studios also impress, but not to the degree you might expect. You can see Tower of Terror, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and some other areas, but we prefer the booths along the wine-wall under the beautiful ceiling. If anything, the floor to ceiling windows are nice reflectors of the moody lighting inside at night.

You can see the fireworks from window tables, but the pyro is so intermittent that this isn’t much of a selling point. Like points of lights off in the distance, or colorful shooting stars.

We also recommend dining at Toledo later in the evening for the nighttime experience, or perhaps optimally, right at sunset for the day-to-night transition. (We’ve somehow never done that. We always dine here late.)

Toledo reminds me of a more elegant and Disney-appropriate version of STK, coupled with the elevation of California Grill. The views aren’t quite as good, but I prefer Toledo’s atmosphere to Topolino’s Terrace or Cali Grill. The vibes are immaculate, as the kids say.

With that out of the way, let’s dig into the dishes…

One of the things we love about Toledo is the reasonably-priced sides, each of which are less than $10.

So if someone in your party–not going to name names–insists that a “well-rounded” meal doesn’t mean two different types of steak, you can add Blistered Shishito Peppers and Plant-Based Brussels Sprouts. (Not really sure why the menu specifies this. Are there secret meat-based Brussels Sprouts that Sarah has been hiding from me for all these years?!)

Those vegetables taste the way that you would expect them to taste. At the risk of losing a bit of my carnivorous street cred, I’ll concede to enjoying both. The char on the Brussels Sprouts adds a lot, and both are lightly seasoned and taste shockingly good for something that came from the ground. Two thumbs up.

Ordering some vegetables should grant some grace for adding Patatas Bravas, too.

You can never go wrong with comforting carbs slathered in sauce, and are fantastic. The crispy exterior gives way to a soft, almost gooey interior. Not quite as good as those over at Jaleo, but that’s an incredibly high bar. And for under $10, you truly cannot go wrong. Addictively delicious, filling, and highly recommended.

From the Tapas and Starters portion of the menu, we have the fan-favorite Pan con Tomate: Crushed Tomato, Garlic, Olive Oil and Charred Bread. If my powers of translation are accurate, this is bread with tomato.

This is light and refreshing, but also with a zesty and savory quality. This is really good, a safe, simple and sweet (figuratively) dish. Some Toledo diehards will tell you this is a must-order, but I wouldn’t go that far. Delicious as it might be, it’s actually one of the more ho-hum appetizers I’ve had at Toledo.

At the opposite-ish end of the spectrum, we also started with the Rioja-braised Chorizo featuring Spanish-style Sausage, Rioja Wine, Onions.

This is essentially a meat-forward dip. And what dip isn’t made better by being mostly meat?! The braised chorizo is delicious, bringing with it a bit of heat, while the onion and wine sauce help soften the crisp bread a bit. Although rich and heavy, there’s nuance to the flavor and it’s not that spicy. Not totally safe, but still interesting and approachable.

Admittedly, this blog has a sausage bias, but I think the Chorizo appetizer is the better, more interesting, and filling dish than the Pan con Tomate. This one is highly recommended. (I wanted to order the Charred Octopus, but no one else was interested–that’s the only other appetizer I could see surpassing this.)

Our first entree is the Marinated Grilled Lamb Loin served with Potatoes, Salsa Verde, Greens, Seasonal Vegetables.

The presentation on this dish is striking, with the choice of colorful sauce really punctuated by the black plate. The arrangement of the meat, potatoes, and seasonal vegetables is likewise eye-catching. It also makes the meat tricky to capture in a single photo, so here’s another:

The lamb loin is more like a traditional steak than what you’d expect from chops or shank, which are my personal favorite ways to consume lamb. It’s nevertheless delicious, with the meat being tender, juicy, a perfectly-prepared medium, and seasoned appropriately.

All of this plus the piquant salsa mostly mitigated the gamey quality of the meat. As someone who loves lamb and prefers it to taste like lamb, I don’t mind a bit of gameiness. It’s why I order lamb in the first place.

The combination of the presentation, accompaniments and cut make the Marinated Grilled Lamb Loin a winner, and one of my favorite entrees anywhere. It’s also a great value at under $40 (for now). This earns my highest possible recommendation; there’s a reason it’s become a staple of the Toledo menu.

Our next entree is the Filet of Beef with Truffle Forest Mushrooms, Olive Oil Potato Purée, and Red Wine-Date Demi.

This is easily the most approachable dish at Toledo, quite literally the meat and potatoes option. All fantastic, as is the generous portion of mushrooms. (Who doesn’t love mushrooms?!)

Toledo Tapas Seafood Steak Restaurant Michelin Coronado Springs Resort Disney World 2390

The Filet of Beef is pretty much exactly what you’d expect. It’s lightly seasoned, tender and delicious. It’s also a hearty cut of meat, and a relative bargain at just over $40.

It’s also nice that the Red Wine-Date Demi can be used to give the meat a bit more personality. It’s not needed to mask the flavor or quality of the cut, but it can (optionally) be used to make the steak even more unique.

Anywhere else, the Filet of Beef would earn my highest recommendation. At Toledo, we recommend opting for pretty much anything else; take full advantage of the unique restaurant. Even if that means ordering the next entry, which is also an approachable steak…

During a previous meal, Sarah and I shared the Chuletón Bone-In Rib-Eye for Two with choice of two house sides. (Note that the preparation has changed on this slightly.)

I’ve wanted to do one of these gigantic steaks for two at Walt Disney World for a while, but the price has never seemed right. At “only” $115 with two sides (each of which would cost $8.50 on their own), Toledo’s option is the most economical.

I’m a big fan of ribeye steaks. Of normal cuts, it’s right up there with the porterhouse for me. Although in most situations, I’d probably give a slight edge to the porterhouse.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have forgotten more meals at Walt Disney World than most people will ever eat. All these years later, this is one that still sticks with me. My mouth is watering as I type this, and my recollection of the Chuletón Bone-In Rib-Eye for Two is more vivid than entrees I’ve had at Toledo much more recently.

Toledo Steak Restaurant Gran Destino Tower Coronado Springs Resort Disney World Ride 230

The Chuletón Bone-In Rib-Eye delivered perfectly in terms of tenderness, ideal marbling, a deeply meaty flavor, and impressive presentation. It perfectly melded meatiness with fattiness, great texture, and a bit of char.

I’m bringing it up here for two reasons. The first is because it’s what you should order. But I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to having an ulterior motive: wanting to re-review the Chuletón Bone-In Rib-Eye as part of the Chef’s Signature Dinner for Two.

Unfortunately, I’ve been told by the DTB CFO that not enough people care about Toledo to justify it. I hope you all do me a solid in disproving that notion. The people need and demand more steak reviews–it is a pressing matter, and a public service.

Ultimately, our experiences with Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood, and Gran Destino as a whole, have been superlative. My theory is that Walt Disney World management recognizes convention-goers, its primary demographic at Gran Destino, have more exacting standards.

Disney wants to exceed the expectations of this lucrative clientele, rather than disappointing them and running the risk that these groups will take their annual business to Las Vegas or wherever.

Whatever the explanation, Toledo feels a lot more like a restaurant you’d find in Disney Springs or even a major metro area than it does at a regular Walt Disney World resort or in the parks. It’s arguably better than most of the Signature Dining options, albeit with price points that are closer to a mid-tier table service restaurant.

Getting to Gran Destino to dine at Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood requires a bit of extra effort, and this is definitely reflected in demand. However, we view that bit of friction as a good thing in keeping Toledo in that hidden gem sweet spot.

Don’t let the location be what stops you from booking reservations for Toledo; you’ll be rewarded for the extra effort. To borrow from the Michelin Guide, Toledo is absolutely one of the Walt Disney World restaurants that is worthy of a detour or special journey.
